adaptogens & superfoods explainer
we exclusively use superfoods and adaptogens that are well studied and backed by scientific research from reputable sources. we’re looking for an actual impact, not just expensive pee.
ashwagandha
It's a root. Ashwagandha is used in Ayurvedic medicine. It's been show to reduce stress and anxiety in human studies. The name is a combination of the Sanskrit work "ashva" (horse) and "gandha" (smell). It doesn't make you smell like a horse. We use ashwagandha to be more chill.
Add ashwagandha by itself or find in in our Mood Blend or our Energy Blend.
baobab
It's a fruit from a super cool looking tree. Baobab is nutrient dense, packed iwht vitamin c, vitamin b6 and niacin. Plus, the antioxidants and polyphenols can help reduce inflammation. Research suggests that chronic inflammation could contribute to a long list of health conditions including heart disease, cancer, autoimmune disorders and diabetes -- all stuff you really want to avoid!
chaga
It's a mushroom. It does some fancy stuff to help your immune system fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. It also helps your body fight inflammation and can support brain function. We use chaga to keep from getting sick cause we're real wusses about being sick. We also use to fight inflammation because prolonged inflammation is bad, m'kay?
cordyceps
It's a fungus. It grows on caterpillars. Yes, we're serious. it's a little non-caffeine kick in the shorts because it may improve the way your body uses oxygen, especially during exercise. We use cordyceps when we need to be more with it but it's too late in the day for caffeine.

hemp protein
It's a plant. It's not weed. It won't make you fail a drug test. Mixed into a smoothie, it has very little flavor. We use hemp protein because it's the only plant-based protein with a full amino acid profile.
l-theanine
It's an amino acid (a protein building block). L-theanine is found in green tea and is the reason why you feel less caffeine jitters with about the same amount of caffeine vs a cup of coffee. We use l-theanine to help with anxiety and stress.

lion’s mane
It's a mushroom. Lions mane supports cognitive function including memory and concentration. It doesn't make you hallucinate. Sorry. We use lion's mane when we've got some serious brain work to do.
lucuma
It's a fruit. It's commonly used as a sweetener. It has a lower glycemic index (4) than sugar (65). In alternative medicine, lucuma is often used to reduce inflammation and boost the immune system. We use it as an alternative to sugar for sweetener with extra benefits.

maca
it's a root. People take maca to enhance energy, stamina, "vitality" (wink, wink), athletic performance and memory. Maybe you're one of those people.
Add maca by itself or find it in our Energy Blend.
moringa
It's leaf. It's super nutrient dense with a bunch of vitamins b^ and C, Iron, vitamin A and magnesium. Plus antioxidants. There's some evidence that mooring may help reduce inflammation. We use moringa for the nutrients and because a little help with inflammation is never a bad thing.
mucuna pruriens
it's a legume. Mucuna contains a bunch of l-dopa, which is a dopamine agonist (or in regular people speak: more l-dopa in your body = more dopamine. We use mucuna to improve mood and generally be coooool, man.

reishi
It's a mushroom. It's been studied a ton for immunity. Reishi has been shown to support sleep cycles and occasional stress. We use reishi to seriously chill out.

spirulina
It's an algae. Spirulina is super duper nutrient dense with significant amounts of calcium, niacin, potassium, magnesium, b vitamins and iron. Some studies show it may help with detoxification, about to counteract pollutants int eh body. We use spiraling like we use spinach: as an easy way to get a bunch of good stuff down our gullets.
turkey tail
It's a mushroom. It is definitely NOT the actual tail of an actual turkey. We use turkey tail for immune support.
